Latest News

Leadership for the North East are recruiting now for NPQ courses beginning in the Spring/Summer term of 2020.

NPQs can have a measurable impact on schools and pupils. Our participants benefit from tried and tested 'blended' programmes of professional learning through high quality face to face days alongside 'online' learning. Our programmes are very relevant to today's educational climate for example using 'evidenced based practice' particularly with regard to Curriculum and Teaching & Learning.

All candidates lead a School Improvement Project designed to have a real and lasting impact on pupils, schools and colleagues.

New for 2020 we are offering NPQExecutive Leadership working in partnership with Outstanding Leaders Partnership

Who we are...

L4NE is Leadership for the North East. Our vision for our schools and region is that the North East has the potential leadership capacity to transform and improve .

L4NE combines first-hand strengths of leadership and experience in primary, secondary and special schools/academies with the proven track record of St Bede’s (an experienced NPQ Licensee) in leadership development.

St Bede’s Catholic School and Sixth Form College, Lanchester and St Anthony’s Sunderland are the lead schools at the heart of this partnership. Three other Teaching School alliances Sunningdale School, Sunderland (Special School), the Peterlee Partnership (40 Primary Schools) and St Mary's Catholic School, Longbenton, Newcastle, strengthen our consortium to provide significant cross phase influence and reach within the North East region and beyond. Indeed, we have now extended our reach to Cumbria – working with a number of primary schools in Carlisle and Allerdale.

Our L4NE track record demonstrates a significant number of school leaders have successfully engaged in the NPQ leadership curriculum over the past 5 years. In 2019/20 we are delivering Leadership Programmes to over 100 participants across the North East and Cumbria.

Up to December 2019 scholarships were available from the DfE for participants working in opportunity and category 5&6 areas. We await to hear if scholarships will become available again in 2020.

Since June 2015 L4NE has managed leadership development of NPQs across the region. During this period, senior leaders from our partnership have been leading design, delivery and review of programmes. Our 2020 programme design very much reflects current educational thinking, for example evidence / research-based approaches to school improvement reflecting the 2019 Oftsed framework, EEF and Early Career Framework.

Our philosophy has been to provide a ‘blended’ approach across all 3 levels. ‘Face to face’ days, online learning, 360 diagnostic - combining leadership theory and practice alongside ongoing support towards final assessment.
